Haitham Hakki

After he made the first Syrian TV series completely financed by the private sector, The Fury of the Desert, director Haitham Hakki founded Al-Rahba Productions in 1987 in order to achieve the ambition many saw as excessive at the time: making a TV series using a single camera and a fine cinematic language.

He succeeded in 1988, when the company produced Circle of Fire, the first Syrian drama fully produced by the private sector and filmed entirely in real locations outside the studios, using the visual language of cinema. The company then went on to produce and co-produce a large number of TV series, programs, and films.

From the beginning, the company worked on expanding its capabilities by acquiring modern equipment and continuously developing it. Today, the company can provide the services required to make more than one film or TV series at the same time.

In 2006, the company established its cinema city, where a number of major and successful Syrian drama productions were filmed.

When director Haitham Hakki founded Reel Films Productions, part of the Orbit TV network, Al-Rahba Productions remained the executive producer for those productions in Syria.

Since its launch, the company has sought to present a model for an independent company, remaining committed to an intellectual and artistic project while continuing to develop its tools and staff in line with contemporary demands.

The company expanded with a strong belief in the need to benefit from the talents and experience of Syrians of all generations, trusting in the ability and commitment that helped Syrian drama earn its place in the hearts of audiences.

The company has also worked, and continues to work, on strengthening a Syrian film industry that can stand alongside the established television drama industry, producing several important films to prove that this is possible.
