A Syrian social drama series composed of 34 episodes. Through three interconnected stories, the series explores the destinies of Syrians during a brief period just before the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, and then follows their lives as the crisis unfolds in their homeland. The series is produced by Metafora Production.
It is divided into three parts:
Part One – “Time Out” (13 episodes):
Set within a family, the story follows an IT engineer married to a woman holding a PhD in law. The family becomes divided after the Syrian crisis begins, particularly following the marriage of one of their daughters to a young man loyal to the regime.
Part Two – “City of Gold” (11 episodes):
Taking place in a coastal village, the story centers on a teenager seeking to escape his harsh working conditions. The events unfold on the eve of the Syrian crisis.
Part Three – “The Fortress” (10 episodes):
Set in a conservative village, the story follows a Syrian sculptor who returns to the village where his former lover lives—whom he was unable to marry. Together, they witness the rise of extremism and fundamentalism, as well as the growing hostility of her radicalized husband after the outbreak of the crisis.
Filming took place in several Turkish cities, including Mersin and Gaziantep, standing in for locations in Syria.
